We offer a wide variety of services to meet your pets needs.

We are proud to announce that we now offer full-service grooming

In House Laboratory

  • We have a blood chemistry analyzer to check for disease of the liver, kidneys, intestines, and  pancreas.  These blood tests can be performed prior to surgery to screen for disease, or used to evaluated a sick pet.
  • A complete blood count (CBC) can be performed to screen for infections, anemias, low platelet levels, and other diseases.
  • X-rays can be performed to screen for fractured bones, bladder/kidney stones, tumors, heart disease, and a wide variety of other illnesses.

  • A urinalysis is used to screen for bladder infections, urine crystals or stones, and kidney or liver disease.
  • Blood pressure can be monitored to diagnose hypotension (low blood pressure) or hypertension (high blood pressure) which is common in pets with kidney disease and heart disease.
  • An EKG (electrocardiogram) can be used to check for abnormal heart rhythms and is useful in evaluating the heart for disease.
  • Cytology can be performed to diagnose bacterial or fungal infections on the skin and ears, and to evaluate lumps for signs of cancer.
  • Skin scrapings are used to screen for mites or fungal infections of the skin.
  • Microscopic fecal examinations to check for intestinal parasites.  Some intestinal parasites are transmissible to humans, therefore this test is very important.
  • Fungal cultures are used to diagnose ringworm, which is contagious to humans.
  • Heartworm, Feline Leukemia, and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) testing can all be performed while you wait!!

Anesthesia

  • We provide gas anesthesia which allows greater safety for your pet.
  • A pulse oximeter is used to monitor oxygen levels in the bloodstream.  This can tell us if a pet isn't getting enough oxygen to the brain.
  • An EKG (electrocardiogram) is used to evaluate the heart's rhythm and rate.
  • Blood Pressure can be monitored to detect low blood pressure in anesthetic patients.  If a pet has low blood pressure, the internal organs don't get an adequate blood supply and this can lead to organ damage.

Dentistry + Dental X-Ray:  We are the first in Sioux Falls to provide dental x-rays which can be used to determine if teeth are diseased, fractured, or healthy.  We provide other dentistry services such as dental scaling and polishing, to extracting diseased and infected teeth.  We use an ultrasonic scaler to clean the teeth which is the safest on the tooth enamel. Most people don't realize that dental disease can lead to damage to the liver, kidneys, and heart valves.  Tooth brushing is recommended for most dogs and cats, ask us to show you how!!

Microchipping:  A small microchip (about the size of a grain of rice) can be implanted underneath the skin between the shoulderblades to allow for permanent identification of your pet, should they be lost or stolen.  The microchip can be detected by a scanner at veterinary hospitals, humane societies, and animal control.  It is a simple procedure that can be performed during a routine appointment.
